Serving within the life of a church is a fun, challenging and rewarding endeavour. Before you start, there are a few simple steps that we need to go through to firstly ensure that our church environment is as safe as possible, and secondly that we find the best fit for your skills and passions.

Step 1: Fill in a Form

The first step in getting started is by filling out a form expressing your interest to get involved. This is where you can tell us a little about yourself and the areas of church life that you want to get involved in.

You can access the form here.

Step 2: Compliance

To keep our community safe, our church employs a number of compliance checks that you'll need to pass before getting started on team. Once you fill in the expression of interest form, you'll be sent an email with the information that you'll need to provide. This includes a valid Working with Children's Check and a "Safer Churches Course" completion certificate. You'll also need to sign a Volunteer's Declaration which outlines some of the code of conduct and expectations that will be placed on you as a leader and volunteer at Hills. Fortunately, these can all be done digitally! Follow the information in the email that you receive and you'll be up and running in no time.

Whilst all of this information will be in the email that gets sent to you, we've organized all of those compliance checks and put the links here so you can get a headstart.

You can also see some of our key Privacy and Child Protection policies here.

Note: People expressing interest in starting a Life Group in their homes will also need to complete and submit a recent Police Check.

Step 3: Chat with a Department Leader

Once you've submitted your compliance documents, the relevant department leader will be in contact to chat through the practicalities to get you started. Every department is different, has different needs, skillsets and expectations, so it's always best to chat with the department leader about how you can begin serving in that particular area.

Step 4: Have Fun!

Now that you're all set to go, the most important thing is to enjoy serving God and serving the people in our church community. It's such an exciting way to grow in your faith, get to know people and be apart of what God is doing here at Hills. We pray that wherever you choose to serve, that it's rewarding, enjoyable and helps you and the people around you become strong and passionate followers of Jesus.
